Well, i have the opportunity to purchase a windows 7 upgrade, isnt it something like $120 from vista? Well im wondering if you think it would be worth it upgrading from vista right now. What I mean is does enough software support it, is everything looking good with updates, ect. My specs are that of your kind of above average vista computer. Probably average.
gateway
Vista home premium
3gb ram
nvidia geforce 8500 GT
500 GB harddrive

if you want any other information, first tell me then yell at me for being a dumbass and too stupid and ignorant to find outhow, then at the end of the rage tell me with a few insults on my intelligence thrown in

Also i want other peoples opinions too not JUST deadbeats, I just think he has the most knowledge on this. Also, since this computer was built for vista, will it run w7 VERY well? I heard w7 didnt take nearly as much to run smoothly.. is this good?

i would say go for it. i havent really had any compatability issues with windows 7 because its architecture is SO similar to vista. its basically what xp did for windows ME (if you can even remember that ya youngen ) its just a cleaned up version that actually works well as opposed to hogging as much memory as possible for some mildly amusing "aero" effects lol

The only unfortunate thing is I dont believe you purchased your computer late enough to get the free upgrade. If its custom built disregard this.

Anyway I love windows 7, but I also used Vista thoroughly and also like that. If you have the money though I think its worth getting. Your specs are perfectly fine and I think you will definitely enjoy it, especially if you cannot stand Vista. My only recommendation is make sure you know what version you want to to get. I believe the 120 dollar one is home Premium edition which is equivalent to Vista Home Premium

which if you end up getting the equivalent version, you can "upgrade" without losing any of your old files or programs, they run like normal!

Unless you are having issues with Vista I wouldn't bother with the Windows 7 at this point.

Now if you have to reload your system for some reason that may be a perfect time to upgrade.
